White Noise in Hamburg; PVRIS 04/14/2016

PVRIS (pronounced Paris) in an American rock band from Lowell, Massachusetts. The Band consists of Lyndsey Gunnulfsen, Alex Babinski, and Brian MacDonald. I have just recently discovered them and when I found out that they were coming to Hamburg, I had to take the chance. I was luckily placed on the guest list a day before the concert, what meant that I didn't have to pay to get in.

14th of March - PVRIS in Hamburg

The concert was supposed to start at 9pm, so I went through my daily routine (school, meeting up  with friends, etc.) before I left for the concert. Since this time it wasn't one of my favorite bands and I had just discovered them, I didn't go early in the morning or right after school. Around 9pm my friend Heather, who I took with me, and I reached the venue. We entered and I told the security guys that I was on the guest list with two tickets. They shortly checked my Youth Press ID card and then gave us two publicity/guest list tickets to go in with.

The venue "Uebel & Gefährlich" is in the 4th floor of an old bunker, so we took the elevator up to the 4th floor and when we entered the small but filled venue, the support act Bones was already on stage and filled the room with their rock sounds and good mood. They played about half an hour and then the Crew of the band came on stage and rebuilt the stage for PVRIS. In the meantime Heather and I went closer to the stage to get a better view since we were standing in the back, during the support act.

Around 10pm the lights went off and the crowd started cheering as the Band came on stage. They started with their song Smoke and the crowd went asolutely crazy. Everyone was singing along to the songs and jumping up and down during the chorus of each song. After five songs the Band went off the stage and only the lead singer and the guitarist stayed up, to perform acoustic versions of their songs Only Love and Ghosts. The crowd got quiet as Lynn filled the hall with her clear voice accompanied by the calm notes of the guitar. I closed my eyes and listened to the sound of the music filling up the room. They then played three more songs before they went off the stage. The crowd kept cheering and clapping, so the band came back and played two more songs for the encore  - including You and I, their latest single.

The whole concert was filled with a good mood. While the crowd was just dancing and singing along to the rock sounds of PVRIS, the band gave their best up on stage. Lynn talked a lot to the crowd and also sat down sometimes on the stage, right in front of the front row. She accepted gifts like candy and thanked us after every song, with a little smirk on her face. Barley anyone was having their phones up and when she told us to keep our phones in our pockets for one song, it didn't seem to bother anyone that they weren't able to film the song.

After the concert I went outside and I was just feeling happy. Even though I only know the band for a few weeks/months now, I felt excited and sang my heart out at the concert. All in all I gotta say that, when they come back I will definitely go to one of their shows again. It wasn't only the music that made me so happy, but also just the fact how the band interacted with the crowd.

I wanna thank the concert organizer Karsten Jahnke for putting me on the guest list and giving me the amazing opportunity to see PVRIS as they are still so unknown and write this article for my blog!

Up next now is Lucius on my 18th birthday next week!
